I support BRAS ACROSS THE BRIDGE because my Aunt (my mom's baby sister) is a Breast Cancer Survivor. Also, my dad's cousin passed away from it. So I support it with every fiber of my being. So far this month, I haven't gone a day without wearing something pink and I'm going to wear pink all month! :)

I just donated about 25 Bras to the Bras Across the Bridge. I had a breast reduction in March 2011 and went from a 36M to a 36 F. These bras are donated for my dear friend Traci Runge of Carmel Indiana. Traci is the first woman to donated good breast tissue to the breast tissue bank and then donate cancers tissue. Traci is going to be doing many speaking engagements to tell her story of survival. Traci has been in the news in the Carmel area all though her treatments. Traci is only 42 years old and has three young girls. I hope I cover my Bras cover about 75 ' of the river for Traci and all others that have been touched by Breast Cancer.

It's always interesting to learn how a child views breast cancer. When I was younger I thought all grandma's had one boob. To me, at the time, I thought it was the most wonderful thing in the world - why? - I was able to steal my gramma's "inserts" and use them for dress up!! But as I got older I learned the sad reality of my dress up accessory. I've learned I'm at higher risk. I've learned it's beatable and it's unbeatable. But most of all I've learned EARLY detection is the key. Ladies, know your risk level. Talk to your doctor and don't, please don't, miss your mammogram!!

I lost my mother at the age of 44 to Breast Cancer. She was 35 years old when she found out she had breast cancer. She had a misectomy and then went on Chemo for quite a while. Afterwards, they thought they had gotten all of it. Due to inefficient testing, she went 7 years thinking she was cancer free, only to find out that she was covered from head to toe in tumors. Testing is far more advanced now than it was, but it's still something you have to be very careful with. She suffered with this for many years. R.I.P Peggy Ann Davis 12/13/1955-9/7/2000. You will always be in my heart! Love you momma!

A dear co-worker I know of survived after going through treatments. The times were very trying but her spirit stayed strong offering hope and inspiration to those around her.

2011 Bras Across the Bridge Video

WMEE along with special sponsor Barbara's New Beginnings & IPFW once again created "Bras Across the Bridge", a visual symbol of breast cancer awareness, hope & survival.

Breast Cancer affects 1 in 8, yes that is right, 1 in 8 women today. We are hoping that our Bras Across the Bridge will get Fort Wayne talking. Talking about early detection - talking to their sisters, wives, moms and daughters about getting their mammogram. Let's start talking about defeating breast cancer!!

THANK YOU!!! We collected hundreds of Bras & over 200 were hung on the Venderly Family Bridge @ IPFW.
