Online Shopping is Great for Groceries, Not Bras

By: Barbara’s New Beginnings

You’ve probably done more shopping online over the past six months than usual. With today’s craziness, shopping online totally makes sense (until it doesn’t).

And when doesn’t it make sense to shop online? When you’re investing in, well, you know, a bra! Seriously, your girls deserve the best fit, and unless you’re lucky, looking at pictures on your phone or computer isn’t the way to find your best-fitting bra.

Oh sure, the sales lingo assures you that you’ll find the best-fitting bras at the best prices. While placing your order, you probably said to yourself, “Wait, I thought they said shipping was included?” Regardless, you continue with your purchase because you’ve already spent way more time than anticipated flipping back and forth between the pages of bras that you hope will fit.

A week later, your package arrives. With delight, you try your new bra on…in the size you swear you wear. What? Seriously? There’s more side boob hanging over than there is actual boob in the cup. Now comes the fun return process. Which email and password did you use so you can begin the return process? Then… What? You have to pay for return shipping! Plus, you get to spend part of your day standing in line at the post office. This is all sounding way too familiar, isn’t it?

Save yourself the headache. Don’t be one of the 80% of women who are walking around in an ill-fitting bra. After the tape measure, your fitting will be more trial and error until you find the perfect bra. Different brands and styles fit differently, so your size in one bra may be totally different in another bra.

With safe, social distancing practices in place, treat yourself to a professional fitting — right here, in town. Did you know Barbara’s New Beginnings has been voted one of the “5 Top Shops in the U.S.” for bra fitting by Intima Magazine? For 19 years, Barbara and her team have catered to women of all ages and sizes.

Think of your bra as an investment in yourself. Spend some time getting fitted. And then, take care of your investment. It’s best to hand wash your bras and set them out to dry to extend your bra’s life. If you can, stay away from washers and dryers. A delicate cycle isn’t delicate enough to preserve the longevity of your bra—plan on washing your bras every 2 – 3 wearings.

Save shopping online for your groceries, not your bra. Your breasts will thank you.
