With the rest of the country still slowly reopening, it’s likely you’ve re-thought your vacation plans in favor of staying close to home. We get it – no sweeping European trips this year. A Romantic Date Night

We suggest starting your romantic date by enjoying a glass of wine at Two EE’s Winery. With indoor and outdoor seating options, you can unwind together as you enjoy each other’s company. It is the only restaurant in the United States that raises its own Wagyu beef by following traditional Japanese husbandry practices. When you place your reservation, you can request your choice of the six unique dining room options, one of which is a quaint outdoor courtyard.

 

After dinner, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the tree-lined streets of the downtown area, and stop for some gelato at Moose and Mollie’s, just around the corner from Joseph Decuis. Extend the fun and make it an overnight stay by booking a room at The Inn at Joseph Decuis. This charming historic home was built in 1912 and has been carefully renovated to keep its original charm.

 

An Adventurous Date Experience 

There are different definitions of adventurous, but we think a two or three-day experience at the Joseph Decuis Farmstead Inn qualifies! Located just six miles from their restaurant on Main Street in Roanoke, the farm features the lovingly restored Farm House built in 1884, Carriage House, and Barn. The farm is the proud home to a herd of Wagyu cattle, which is raised in all-natural, humane, hormone-free, and stress-free conditions. The cattle are fed a special Japanese vegetarian diet, and they take almost twice as long to reach full weight as commercial cattle.

 

When you stay at The Farmstead Inn, you can enjoy a variety of hands-on farm experiences including farm chores, gardening, animal husbandry, driving Percheron horses, exploring the beautiful grounds, and learning all about raising the Wagyu cattle. The overnight accommodations are beautiful and comfortable, with a delicious breakfast provided, and other private dining options are available.

 

If you envision a different adventure, head down the road to Zip Timberlake, and try out ziplining! This hidden treasure in Huntington County is perfect for two, or a double date! The experienced staff will ensure your group has a wild (and safe) time!

If you are looking for a date with arts and culture, we’ve got you covered!  We recommend starting your time together at Arts Station Antiques, a fun antique and gift shop located at 375 N Main Street in Roanoke. You’ll have fun exploring the unique items from bygone eras throughout the shop, with plenty of sweet souvenirs to remember your visit by.

 

Next head to Board & Brush to build and paint a handmade sign that will look great in your home. This hands-on experience will have you exploring your creative side in a gorgeous, renovated garage turned into an art studio. After a day of shopping and a bite of lunch from Roanoke treasures such as Joseph Decuis Emporium, the Village Inn, or the Patio, sit back and unwind with a fun wine tasting, or enjoy a glass, slushee or bottle of wine at Two EE’s Winery.
